Hyperallergic is a forum for serious, playful and radical thinking about art in the world today.
Created
by husband-and-husband team, Veken Gueyikian and Hrag Vartanian,
Hyperallergic officially launched on October 14, 2009. It combines the
best of art blog and magazine culture by focusing on publishing quality
and engaging writing and images from informed and provocative
perspectives.
The site was the winner of Best Art Blog at the 2011 Art & Reality Conference in St. Petersburg,
Developed by Greg Shelnutt, former Chair of the Art Department, Clemson University.

Studio Break MFA/BFA Competition 2012
Juror: David Linneweh, creator/producer of Studio
Break.
Graduating MFA/BFA students, Fall
2011 or Spring 2012 are invited to submit applications to be featured as a
guest on the Studio Break podcast/blog. Studio Break showcases contemporary artists through visual
slide shows along with in depth conversations with artists regarding their
creative development and studio practice.
Eligibility: All mediums will be accepted provided they can
be documented and submitted through competition guidelines.
Awards:
- 3 Artists from each category (MFA/BFA, 6 total) will be featured on the Studio Break blog and website and will include the following:
- Slide show of visual work & links to artist websites
- Downloadable 30 minute interview which can be played through Studio Break, saved as an Mp3 file or downloaded through the iTunes Store.
- In addition the final 6 artists will be featured in a printed catalog made available through Create Space and will include images, artist statement, and contact information.
Application Guidelines:
Submit 1 PDF file in the following
format:
1 page artist statement
(name/email; indicate MFA/BFA & school affiliate)
10 images of recent work (72 dpi,
10” in widest dimension) title, medium, size, and date
*PDF file should include 11 pages
in total: Artist Statement followed by 10 image pages in a single file under 10
mb
